Paris Day 1
I think my fascination/obsession with France started when I was a little girl and saw Beauty and the Beast. I don't remember the first time I saw that movie, but I have always associated that movie with France and I've always wanted to go to France so I think they go hand in hand.Because I've always wanted to go to France, I took 5 years of French in Jr. high and high school. Back in November we were planning our spring break and I found tickets to France for really cheap! Well cheap compared to what tickets to France normally are. We bought the tickets an hour after finding them, which was so out of character for us! We booked our Airbnb and all of a sudden, I was going to be going to France!
Sunday afternoon we left for the airport. We took just what we could fit in our backpacks so we didn't have to pay for baggage and they were really heavy, but it didn't matter because we were going to France! We were hoping to sleep on the plane since we were kind of flying through the night, but we couldn't sleep at first since it was early and then there were a ton of college kids on spring break on our flight that were super loud so, no sleep for us. On the way to Iceland we got to see the Northern Lights from the plane which was amazing! We got into Iceland really early in the morning and had like 2 1/2 hours in the airport. Greg slept some but I couldn't really sleep. We got on the plane to Paris and finally got some sleep, a whole 2 hours! We were both really tired, but when we landed in Paris, it didn't even matter! We took the train from the airport to Gare du Nord and walked about 10 minutes to where we were staying.
We went and got some baguette sandwiches and a framboise tartelette (small raspberry tart) for lunch and then we walked over to the Eiffel Tower. We were about an hour walk from the Tower but we really wanted to see the city, so we decided to walk. The city was amazing! The buildings, the Seine, everything! We took so many pictures just of buildings because we loved everything! Except the smell of smoke everywhere. Seriously everyone still smokes there. We walked down the Champs-Elysee and saw all the crazy expensive stores and then we were there! We took pictures from the bridge over the Seine, pictures up close, and then we got in line to go to the top. We wanted to get to the top at night so we could see the city lit up at night. It was freezing waiting in line! But when we got up there and saw the city lit up... It was so worth it.

We were super tired after coming down so we decided to take the train back to the apartment. After only 2 hours of sleep since Sunday morning we crashed hard once we got back. The first day in Paris was everything I hoped for! The food was excellent, the city was amazing and it was just perfect.
