September 1st AKA Doom's Day

There are 4 major colleges/universities less than 5 miles from where we live now. Not to mention multiple smaller colleges and community colleges in that same distance. That is a lot of students around here. And most of them are living in apartments. Apartments that almost all have move in dates of 9/1. That means that a month before we moved in we had to call the city of Boston and get a permit so we would have a place for our trailer to go and we had to change our delivery address because all the spots in front of our apartment were already gone. That also means that on the first our trailer was 3 hours late because of traffic. That also means that for the first hour or so our trailer was there, we couldn't put our ramp down because the parking was so congested so it was taking us forever to unload. when we finally got the ramp down it was pretty fast moving, but it was a looong day. It was just Greg and me moving stuff so it was pretty slow. Having the ramp down was a huge help though. And we were really glad we sold almost all our furniture. We live on the top floor, the fifth floor and while we do have an elevator, it's one of the smallest elevators ever. The door is only 2 feet wide so we couldn't even fit our office chair in there. It was a day filled with traffic, waiting, lots of moving, exhaustion and frustration over the stores being out of everything. Like seriously, everything. We went to IKEA on the 2nd and about 75% of the bins were empty of furniture and the ones that weren't empty were more than half gone. Target was out of almost everything too. We had to order so many things from Amazon because everywhere here was out of everything. We are so glad to be in our apartment, but we plan on never being in Boston on 9/1 again. We will go out of our way to be out of town on 9/1 because it was so insane. We also hope to never move again because it is a nightmare here. We already love our apartment, but it was a lot of work getting here. We can't wait to get all our furniture and get settled in to our new adventure!
