New Breakfast Obsession

Oatmeal makes such a good breakfast. It's good for you, it's super cheap, and it's just warm and comforting. But it gets a little old you know? I was reading some post about the latest health food trends and how cranberries are getting a lot of attention because they're super good for you. And I thought, "Hey! We got obsessed with the cranberry orange sauce I made in the fall, what if we added that to oatmeal for something different and tasty and good for you??" So I made some more cranberry orange sauce and added it to our instant oats. It was awesome! Sweet, tangy and it felt healthy. We basically had enough to last us all week.

Orange Cranberry Sauce:
1 c water
1 c sugar
16 oz pkg of cranberries
Zest of 1 orange

In a pot, add the water and sugar. Heat over medium low heat while stirring to dissolve the sugar. Once the water is dissolved, add the cranberries and turn the heat up to medium. Stir occasionally and let cook until all the berries have popped. Remove from the heat and stir in the orange zest. Let cool at room temperature and refrigerate when cool.

Add a couple spoonfuls to the top of your oatmeal in the morning and stir it in.
