Menton AKA Best Dining Experience Ever

For my birthday my cousin, Jess, got me a gift card to a fancy restaurant in Boston and I couldn't wait to go try it out! Almost two months after my birthday we finally got the chance to go to dinner! We got dressed up but when we got to Menton, I was afraid we were terribly under dressed because the first couple we saw eating were in black tie attire. But, no worries, there were a couple people in jeans and nice tops so we weren't the worst dressed there.

You guys, this place was amazing. The whole staff was incredible. They took our coats for us at the beginning. We got water right away. When we told them the gift card was for my birthday, everyone wished me a happy birthday when they came over to the table. Every course was brought at the perfect time. Just when we'd finished savoring something and felt ready for something else, there it was! Anytime someone left the table, they came and folded the napkin back. After each course someone came over and used a little tool to wipe crumbs up. And the chef prepared complimentary oysters for us. The oysters weren't honestly our cup of tea, but it was a fun experience. And we accidentally tried champagne because they were on the oysters and it wasn't cooked out. Whoops! Then they brought us the salad we wanted to split. They were kind enough to put it on two plates for us. Along with the salad they brought our first bread course, a little croissant with honey and sea salt on the top. They also brought some butter for our table. The butter was made in house from the milk of their own cow!

Before our entrees were brought out, they brought another bread course. This time they brought a tray of three different kinds of bread. A semolina focaccia, a ciabatta, and a little baguette. Greg got the focaccia and a baguette and I got the ciabatta and a baguette. It was all excellent of course. Then came the entrees! It was all absolutely amazing of course.

Greg's entree: sea bass, mussels, roasted fingerlings, and roasted red pepper sauce

My entree: pasta with lobster, Calabrian chili and sea urchin
We didn't plan on getting dessert, but at this point, everything had been so amazing, how could we pass it up?! After we ordered our desserts, the couple at the table next to us left and we got to see them come clear and reset the table. It was a perfect science. They even came out with an old style metal iron, you know, the kind you stick in the fire to heat up, and ironed the table cloth on the table. It was amazing. And then came the dessert!

Look at this! I told you there were the best

We finally got to try savory ice cream thanks to the sesame ice cream on Greg's dessert. It was all delicious. Life was feeling pretty sweet right about then. But then it got even better. The staff brought a little plate of treats for us when they brought the bill. No dinner mints here!

The furthest back to the front: biscotti, peach gel candy thing, hazlenut madeleines, and grapefruit macarons

This was seriously one of the best experiences of my life. My cousin knows me so well! And it was well worth the money we paid out of pocket after the gift card. When we got home that night we went down the rabbit hole of fancy food and spent the rest of the night looking at menus for fancy restaurants and dreamt of all the places we can try out. I love that I'm married to someone who appreciates things like this!
